Agnes marries her beloved William and starts a family with him. She is deeply attached to their life in the countryside, surrounded by nature and close to the forest she loves, but she knows that her husband must go to London to pursue his professional ambitions. Their separation is difficult, and when tragedy strikes, Agnes is overwhelmed with grief. William, for his part, pours his emotions into writing a play.
